There was a time when I was cleaning bathrooms at night.

Working as a janitor.

Coming home to a dark basement apartment with Crystal

We had a mattress on the floor.
Mold was growing in the closets.

I could hear house mates stomping around upstairs.

We’d shoot a wedding on the weekend.

Deliver beautiful images.

There was one night — and I remember it like it was yesterday.

I got home late from my janitor job.

My hoodie smelled like bleach.

My knees hurt from scrubbing floors in some random office floor

Crystal had just gotten back too — still in her scrubs after a long night shift at the hospital.

I sat down on the couch, opened my laptop, and checked our inbox.

I looked at my bank account.

And I remember closing the laptop, looking over at Crystal, and saying:

We needed a system.

Learned how to communicate value, not just send price lists.

Learned how to close high-ticket bookings, not just hope for inquiries.

We studied sales psychology, systems, paid ads, buyer behavior, lead conversion —

Stuff that sounded foreign to most wedding creatives…
 But it changed everything.

Within months, we went from stuck in a basement…
To booking dream couples, working fewer weddings, and hitting $10k–$30k months consistently.

We weren’t just photographers anymore.
 We were business owners.
